YELLOW JACKETS COLLECTIVE and Discwoman invite our QTPOC community to ring in the new year of the Rooster. Celebrate your daily resistance and survival with us!!!

The Lunar New Year is the first day of a calendar year based on the cycles of the moon. Hindu, Bengali, Buddhist, Islamic and traditional East Asian calendars are based on this system, and many of us in the U.S. who have ancestors from these ‘othered’ spaces still live and celebrate by it.

The Lunar New Year connotes a time of family reunion and we want to reinterpret this tradition by celebrating with our chosen families and our queer Asian-American diasporic families. We want to meet and strengthen each other for the year of resistance and community-building we have ahead of us.

Queerness is a spectrum of self-defined identifications of bodies, communities, histories and socio-economic logics that are not legitimate under the straightness of white patriarchy. Queerness does the work of maneuvering, scamming and burning white patriarchy to the ground. With this party we will do this as VISIBILY and JOYFULLY as possible.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TOXIC MASCULINITY AND WHITE NONSENSE WILL BE CHECKED AT DOOR.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IF YOU ARE NOT ASIAN IDENTIFYING, NO ASIAN CULTURAL GARB, NO APPROPRIATION.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
